BUYER'S GUIDE
Connectors, Karabiners and Hooks
A connector links the parts of a fall arrest system, either as an anchorage connector at the anchor end of the connecting element or as a harness attachment connector at the harness end. A safe system has no weak link, so connectors must be chosen, used and checked with the same care as the rest of the equipment.
- KStrong hooks and connectors have a minimum breaking strength of 20 kN, and load bearing metal parts are proof load tested at 16 kN.
- To connect, unscrew or press open the lock, open the gate, and always lock the gate once connected.
- Screw locking karabiners are reliable in harsh or dirty conditions and lock manually with a threaded nut over the gate.
- Before every use, look over the connector for cuts, kinks or deformities, check that the gate opens, closes and locks smoothly and sits in line with the body, and check the marking and any rust on the gate and lock.
