Using Lockout Tags
A tag warns and identifies; it does not physically stop anyone. Tags are used together with locks, or alone only where a device cannot be locked and the procedure allows it.
- Write the worker's name, the date and the reason on every tag.
- Choose a material that stays legible in the environment: heat, moisture or chemicals.
- Use a standard format and the language the workforce reads; bilingual Indonesian and English tags help on mixed sites.
- Attach tags with a non-reusable tie strong enough not to be removed by accident.
