Code: L3823

Clamp-on circuit breaker lockout L3823 for large 480-600V breakers with a handle width up to 70 mm. It is made of rugged polypropylene and impact-modified nylon, and the lockout cleats in the bottom allow hard locking of long sliding switches and switches with large angular rotation. BUYER'S GUIDE

Choosing a Circuit Breaker Lockout

A circuit breaker lockout holds the breaker toggle in the OFF position so it cannot be switched on while work is under way. Fit depends on the breaker type, size and toggle shape.

  1. Identify the breaker first: miniature (MCB), moulded case (MCCB) or large industrial, single or multi-pole, and the toggle width and thickness.
  2. Pin-in and pin-out types fit the holes beside the toggle; clamp-on types grip the toggle itself and suit breakers without holes.
  3. Tool-free designs are quicker to fit; screw-fixed designs hold more firmly on large breakers.
  4. A lockout device does not replace verification. After locking, test that the circuit is de-energised before work starts.

Summarised from the manufacturer's catalogue and the general requirements for lockout devices in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147. Device selection must follow your written energy isolation procedure and site risk assessment.
